For over ten years, Silver Sage Danes' key purpose is to strive for improvement and absolute
perfection in our Great Danes and their offspring. Enhancing and carrying on all of the hard
work and dedication that lives on in our Danes today. Our desire for our Danes is to have a
regal appearance, dignity, strength and elegance with great size and a powerful, well-formed,
smoothly muscled body. Their general conformation must be well balanced, so that it never
appears clumsy, and shall move with a long reach and powerful drive. They are spirited,
courageous, intelligent,never timid or aggressive; always friendly and depend-able. This
physical and mental combination is the characteristic which gives the Great Dane the majesty
possessed by no other breed. Over the past decade we have gained a mountain of knowledge
about caring, raising and breeding this astonishing breed, from countless hours of research
and guidance from mentors. But above all, we have grown to love and make these Gentle
Giants a big part of our family and can't imagine life without them! If you have ever owned a
Great Dane, you know exactly how we feel. For us, it all started with our first Harlequin Great
Dane, Harley (on our memory page). As soon as she was in my arms, I totally fell in love! She
was a very loving, intelligent, and very unique dog. She was my best friend and loyal
companion for almost ten years. We lost her in the Spring of '05 and we still miss her every
day. She will always hold a very special place in our hearts. We are a small kennel, out in the
country on our farm in Idaho and plan on staying that way. We believe in breeding quality,
not quantity! First and foremost, our Danes are part of our family and are a big part of our
lives. They are only given the best, because we expect the best. They occasionally let us live with
them in our house! They are loved, live and raised alongside us and our two young sons. Hips,
Elbows, Heart, Thyroid,personality and temperament test are all done and cleared before any
breedings take placed. We have some outstanding Champion lines from Europe (France,
Germany, Italy and Poland) and also champion American lines as well. We breed
American/European pedigrees, which we have found produces a well-balanced Dane, overall in
structure, temperament, confirmation,intelligence, longevity. Great Danes are truly the 'Apollo
of Dogs' and we are very grateful to have them as part of our lives. Each one of our puppies is
well socialized with adults, children and other dogs. They are given the appropriate
vaccinations, dew claws removed, and checked over by a vet and given a health certificate. Each
puppy is micro-chipped as well. We offer a 4 year health and genetic guarantee and lifetime
support. Puppies are sent home with a new puppy package, with new toys, collar, food, and an
extensive informational packet. If you have never owned a Dane, please do a lot of research into
this spectacular breed before considering adopting one. They have so many wonderful traits
and characteristics that make them an ideal family companion, they do tend to be a bit
strong-minded if not properly trained. Being as this is a giant breed dog, it takes a lot of time,
money and attention. They do not thrive or do well if left alone for very long and should never
be kenneled all the time. Make sure that everyone involved in caring and raising a puppy is
totally committed to giving all the proper care, attention and love that these 'Gentle Giants'
require. If so, you will never regret bringing a Great Dane into your lives-it will never be the
same again!
