Five years ago, the kids decided that 'moms' dogs grew up too fast and
they didn't get to hold them on their laps because they got so big, so fast.
I had a miniature dachshund as a pet growing up. She went wherever I
went and I was devastated when she passed away at the age of sixteen.
So when my kids wanted a small dog, who thinks she is a big dog, we
decided a miniature dachshund would be the perfect fit for our family.
From the moment I laid eyes on the little black and tan, long-haired
miniature doxie, it was love at first sight! I just had to take her home
and make her one of my 'furry' kids. Phoebe, a.k.a. Mrs. Weenie, fit
right in perfectly and actually thinks she is one of the Danes. She
plays, runs, and sleeps with all of our Danes and they all put up with
her and let her think she is the boss. She has become our nanny for
when the moms need a break from their children and love handing the
job over to Phoebe for a while. Her spunky personality and stubbornness
fits right in with our Danes and is a 'big' part of the family. She is
spoiled rotten, thinks she runs the place and....she's right!
